We finally found the Borg. Home sweet, home.

Okay, so. The Prado may be the best. But, the Reina Sofia is our favorite. We got a crash course in modern Spanish history through the lens of art, cultural criticism, and movement making. Guernica had never felt so relevant to us before. Echoes of Trump prodded us through the museum with sharp eyes and ears, as we learned about Franco’s Spain from Picasso, Dalí, and Buñel.

Monocle Travel Guide, Madrid, you haven’t failed us once (except for that time you sent us to Salamanca to go shopping)! Being students of cocktail bars, we went to 1862 Dry Bar, a speakeasy run by Alberto. It was also empty, for 10 PM. But, Alberto explained it had a lot to do with the rain (but it hadn’t rained hard that day). 1862 Dry Bar is an unpretentious love letter to cocktails, with a tidy menu and mustachioed barkeep. It was almost like we were back in Seattle! After a bit of conversation, we discovered that Alberto was a fanboy of Canon and Amor y Amargo - two bars we love in Seattle and NYC. Alberto sent us with a long list of bars to go to in London - so, we have lots of homework to finish!
